In 97% mint crisp condition, we have a top example of a very late production Mauser Model 1930 Broomhandle Pistol in 7.63mm, FULLY RUIGGED OUT WITH THE MAUSER FACTORY STOCK & HARNESS. These late production broomhandles have a very distinctive bright black/blue look due to a very high polish finish and the use of Hot Salt Blue, unlike the earlier models that were rust blued. These were some of the first Mauser pistols that used the more modern finish and they really pop. This is of course all matching with a mint bore. The Model 1930 was a streamlined improvement over the old C96 design and was a significant improvement.
By the time this pistol was manufactured the broomhandle was pretty much passé in Europe, however the design was still quite popular in China and Japan and there was a brisk market for them right up to the onset of WW2. During WW2 they were carried by Luftwaffe Motorcycle couriers and are often seen in photographs being used by the Waffen SS. If you are thinking of a Broomhandle in a WW2 context this is the pistol that was carried by soldiers and partisans on both sides of the conflict and in every theater of operations.
