This is a very scarce Dutch Contract M-1906 Luger Pistol assembled by the British Arms maker Vickers Ltd.  Beginning in 1919, approx. 6,000 Luger pistols were assembled out of parts provided by the German Firm of DWM who were forbidden to manufacture firearms due to the restrictions placed up them by the Treaty of Versailles which ended WWI.  These pistols were intended to arm the Dutch Army in the East Indies.  These pistols saw long hard use in the tropical environment right through WW2 and most were captured by the Japanese and re-issued by them and then many were later recaptured by the allied forces.

These Dutch east indies Lugers were all used hard and were arsenal redone as is this example many were refinished and over hauled numerous times and almost to a gun they are very worn out looking.  Our Vickers Luger is exceptional as it still has the original British proofed barrel which you just never see as they were almost always re-barreled  and is much nicer than is usually seen.  This is a very desirable pistol not only for Dutch Martial firearms collectors but all Luger collectors as this is the only “British Luger” ever made.
