This is a one of a kind Mauser and Luger rarity. Back in the early 1970’s Mauser re-introduced the Luger Pistol as the Mauser Parabelkum Pistol. They were manufactured on a set of machines purchased from Switzerland and were largely Swiss type Lugers. There were many variations both of a commemorative nature and for shooting and they has a fairly successful sales run.
At the time, there was significant interest at Mauser to produce a “baby Luger”, so the engineers at Mauser built one prototype from full sized parts to study the feasibility of bringing this pistol to full production. After the pistol was finished it was concluded that based upon the cost to manufacture and convert to the smaller size that it would not be cost effective to bring this to the mass market. So this pistol has become aonrher one of those highly desirable footnotes of Luger lore and history.
