As far as German WW2 flare pistols go, this is an extreme rarity and the only one that we have ever come across. We have a Steel Construction 1943 Walther Production LP34 Flare Pistol. The Germans made a half a million of this model but it is estimated that only around 9,000 were made of steel in 1943. Almost all were made of Aluminum and about 20,000 were made of a zinc alloy. The weight of this pistol is staggering, it weighs nearly 3 pounds many times the weight of the Aluminum model. Also peculiar to this model is the loaded pin indicator, probably used due to the immense weight, in that you could not tell if a flare was in the pistol. This is just one of those things that we get in once in a blue moon and you will never see another one offered for sale for a long, long time.
