In 98% mint crisp condition, we have a very fascinating and mysterious 1940 dated Luger Pistol. This is a completely un-numbered parts assembled Luger. All the parts appear to be un-numbered replacement parts that are s/42 coded or 42 coded. The extractor is a depot proofed part, that may indicate that this was assembled in a HZa arms repair depot. This work may have been done in 1941 and the 1940 date on the receiver may support that theory. In 1941 there was a severe shortage of small arms in Germany and many rifles and some pistols were assembled out of un-used spare parts at several depots. It is less likely but possible that is was assembled at the end of the war or in the immediate post war period. This pistol is in mint condition and has seen little use. It literally is worth a small fortune in un-numbered parts. This pistol would be of significant interest to the serious Luger Pistol collector and is an extremely interesting and important piece.
