In excellent condition, we have a very desirable May, 1943 production US government contract Remington “THE SPORTSMAN” Riot Shotgun. This model in its commercial form was a cheaper version of the model 11 and only had a three shot magazine. They are much scarcer than the Model 11 Riot Shotguns. The barrel is military proofed and as with all of these guns in riot configuration it is cylinder bore and has a 3 shot capacity. These Browning designed semi-auto shotguns are the same gun as today’s Browning A5 shotguns and this has proven to be a design that has stood the test of time. During the war, these shotguns would be used by the Military Police to guard prisoners and installations. They were widely used by the Navy in various roles. This is a great WW2 combat shotgun. This shotgun is marked on the bottom of the Pistol Grip to the police force of Johnson County West Virginia, where it was used post war.
