Description

In 95% excellent all matching condition, we have a 1933 dated Enfield No 2 MkI .38/200 Service revolver.  This revolver still has the hammer spur and has not been modified with its removal as almost all these revolvers were during their service life.  The bore is excellent as well.  Most importantly it is regimentally property marked  ” 2 W York 12” on the top of the backstrap which is DEFINITIVELY IDENTIFIED as the 2nd Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment gun #12

If you are a fan of the British Army in WWII, this is certainly one of the most important service arms that can be documented to a specific unit, The 2nd Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment, The Prince of Wales Own, One of the most Storied Regiments in the Entire British Empire.   The second battalion of the West Yorks served throughout the entire Burma Campaign, they fought at Kohima and Impahl and participated in some of the most ferocious fighting in South East Asia.  This revolver as you see it has been carried throughout the Burma campaign.  British unit marked sidearms are extremely scarce; very few were regimentally marked.  Probably the most historically significant British service arm we have handled.
