As far as Russian Nagant revolvers go, this is quite an eye popper. In 96% all matching condition, we have a 1940 Production M1895 Nagant Service Revolver. This is all matching with a mint bore which you rarely see on these hard used handguns. Of course this is not one of those recently imported rebuilt turds. If you are looking for a top collector grade example of this well known and legendary revolver this is a prime example.
Revolvers from this time period could have gone to the military,, the NKVD or the police. These revolvers are notorious for those basement purges at Lubyanka Prison during Stalin’s reign of terror. Although quite obsolescent by the time WWII began these revolvers stayed in production for several reasons including the fact that you could stick it out the view ports of a T-34 tank and shoot it; you could not do that with a TT-33. They were produced right till the end of the war in 1945. They are still very culturally significant in todays Russia.
