Description

This is a very rare opportunity to own of the one most obscure but significant FN High Power Pistols from the WW2 era.  In 95% very sharp original condition, we have an extremely rare (only 3038) 1937 Estonian Army Contract Pistol, property marked “E.V.”  for “Eesti Vabarik” (Republic of Estonia) for the Estonian Regular Army.   These pistols are in a special contract serial range of 5,338 pistols that were ordered for both the army, which were marked “E.V.” and the very small number of 2300 for the Home Guard marked “KL”.  This pistol is all matching with a mint bore.

The most notable feature of this contract besides the marking on the rear grip strap is that the Estonians stipulated that their pistols had a lighter trigger pull.  I can indeed confirm that the Estonian Pistols have a much improved and lighter trigger pull than any other High Power produced at this time.

As you might imagine only a handful of these pistols are known to exist.  There are probably less than 10 in North America.  In 1940 Estonia was overrun by the Soviet Union and just a year later was occupied by the German Army.  The route this pistol made to get to America is open to speculation, it could have been captured by the Soviets, then by or firstly by the Nazis.  After that went down there was another change of ownership as it was taken off a German soldier by a US G.I. , who brought it back as a war trophy.  I think that this very much adds to the allure of this pistol and makes it even more desirable to those interested in WWII history.
