Sold VERY RARE, EARLY 1939 PRODUCTION, J.P. SAUER MODELL 38 PISTOLE, CROWN/N, PAINTED SIGHTS, PRE-SLIDE SAFETY, DOCUMENTED VET BRING BACK!

In 97% factory original condition, we have an extremely rare and seldom seen very early 1939 production J.P. Sauer & Sohn Modell 38 Pistole.  This is Crown/N proofed and has all of the early distinct features of this model, the coarse early grips, the painted sights and most obviously no safety installed on the slide.  Certainly ahead of its time, only around 3,000 of this model were made and very few were pre Eagle/N ( Jan, 1940) proof marked.  This pistol was marketed to the Army who rejected it on the grounds of there being no safety.  This was resolved in the next version, the Army model known as the Modell 38H H-for hand safety.

The Modell 38 is not easy to find, especially in this fine condition, it is a very important and innovative design and certainly belongs in any advanced collection.  We have just been advised that this pistol was a documented vet bring back, taken off of a  German Doctor at the end of the war.
