News from the Office: Welcome to May, we had a very eventful April and I think May will be pretty hot too. We have two collections coming in this week and we have other stuff in the pipeline as well so there will be a good selection of crispy items going on. You may have noticed that when we get a collection in its not full of hack grade items. We save the hack grade stuff for others, if you are coming to our little chunk of the gunshow of the internet you are looking for top condition examples of 20th century historical firearms. we have an un-matched level tradecraft in this area that other dealers cannot aspire to obtain.
Collecting Soviet/Russian firearms in today’s new reality: I personally collect Soviet WWII & Cold War era firearms and I know some of you do as well or at least have specimens of the major types of firearms used in WWI-II in your collections. In light of current events and the actions of the murderous fascist-like Russia of Today this fact has been brought to our doorstep by the invasion of Ukraine. Many collectors have given pause to whether it’s seemly to continue to keep collecting these arms. We certainly have felt this way as we continue to offer these Soviet/Russian items for sale.
What we normally sell is history but, in this instance, we are also selling current events. For many years Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union and during WWII Ukrainians fought on both sides of the war. They also have on several occasions fought against the Soviet State for liberation. All of the Soviet/Russian Military arms that we have sold have been used and some are still being used by both the Good Ukrainians and the Evil Russians. These firearms offer a tangible link to these past events and in the case of the Makarov Pistols we sell they offer one of the few examples of a firearm actively being used by both sides right now.
We will continue to sell these items as its important to remember the past and the present. We also encourage you to do your part to fight the murderous Russian State by helping the Ukrainian People. Pre98 Antiques makes weekly regular contributions to World Central Kitchen to help them keep the Ukrainian people fed and cared for. We will PROUDLY continue to do so. Please do your part to help the cause of Freedom, this is as black and white as any war has ever been.
