Description

IN 97% ORIGINAL VERY SHARP CONDITION, WE HAVE A REALLY NICE EXAMPLE OF A WW1 ISSUED S&W M1917  SERVICE REVOLVER IN 45 ACP.     THE GUN IS ALL MATCHING, (GRIPS, BARREL, CYLINDER) WITH A MINT BORE AND IT’S LOCKUP IS AS TIGHT AS A TICK.  IT ALSO HAS VERY ATTRACTIVE LOOKING GRIPS.

I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THESE WERE BETTER HANDLING THAN THE COLTS. THIS IS LIKE HAVING AN ALMOST NEW 105 YEAR OLD GUN!  WE SEE MANY MORE COLTS THAN THE SMITHS SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE THIS IS A TOP EXAMPLE.  THE M1917 REVOLVERS WERE HEAVILY USED IN ACTIVE SERVICE IN WWI AND  RIGHT THROUGH TO THE END OF WWII.  DURING WWII, THEY WERE OFTEN ISSUED TO MP’S AND THE ARTILLERY TO SPARE THE M1911’S FOR FRONT LINE COMBAT USE WITH THE INFANTRY AND ARMOR.   THIS IS AN EARLY 1918 PRODUCTION ALL MATCHING REVOLVER WITH LITTLE MORE THAN SLIGHT CARRY WEAR.
