Description

In 98++% mint NEW AND HARDLY EVEN RACKED condition, we have an exceptional example of an August, 1944 production Colt 1911a1 US Army Service Pistol.  This pistol is in new condition, and it is in 100% factory original with a mint bore, hardly every had any more use than being looked at and shot a couple of times.  This is a pristine example of Colt made 1911a1 at the height of wartime production.

This is a “Lend Lease” Colt supplied to the British. Unlike most of the firearms that were supplied to Great Britian by the US, these pistols saw heavy use with the Brits, especially the Commandos, Paratroopers, SAS, Jedburgh groups and the SOE.  This pistol is London Proofed, which indicates it was almost certainly issued during the war.

In 1944 Colt produced more 1911a1 pistols than any other year, totaling over 162,000. Still with that being said, to find one that survived the war in this little more than slightly handled condition is a real find.  If you are looking for a nice original genuine WWII Colt 45 like Grandpa used to shoot the Nazi SS Officer with, here you go!
