In 98% very crisp condition we have a fairly early June, 1943 Production Ithaca 1911a1 US Army Service Pistol, with the very desirable early Du-Lite gray blue finish. This pistol is 100% correct and the bore is mint. This is a very interesting early Ithaca for a number of reasons; it is one of the very last pistols that was sandblasted & blued and it still features much of the hallmarks of early production at Ithaca such as the lack of a factory Quality control inspection mark on the left front triggerguard web and flaming bomb proofs on the frame and the slide.
This pistol was shipped to the Raritan Arsenal in New Jersey and would have been sent to arm troops fighting in Europe. If you are looking for an early production example of the Pistol made in Ithaca, New York, this is a real peach!
Scotty’s Collector Insight…Finding an early production du-lite finished Ithaca this crisp is quite the find! Almost all of them were lost in the war or rebuilt or reworked post war. This is a mint crisp example exactly as it left the Ithaca Factory.
