In 98% mint condition, we have a very attractive example of Colts later Wartime Colt 1911a1 US Army Service Pistol. This example was shipped in January, 1945 and it is 100% factory original and correct. The finish is the smooth Parko-Lubrite which is much more appealing than the parkerizing also in use at Colts at that time. The gun is very tight and the bore is mint as well. The cosmetic finish on these later production Colts was a bit less refined than earlier production and appearance it a little more coarse. The grips are also correct for this Colt with the large grip screw reinforcing rings and mold numbers in the center of the rear reinforcement ribs. The excellent condition magazine is unmarked but appears to be WWII period with a welded base, vertical brush marks on the body, and Du-Lite blue finished.
The Colt 1911a1 is one of the most iconic handguns of both WWII and the past century. These guns are readily collected across a large segment and are immensely popular and a solid investment and a usable one that that. This is a fantastic example of what was in service as the war in the Pacific glowed red hot.
