This is a great example of a Japanese Army officer carried FN Model 1910 Pistol. The pistol is in 95% condition with a mint bore. The pistol is in the known serial range for Japanese shipped pistols and it was sent over to Japan by FN’s agent Schroeder in 1938-39. This pistol comes with the scarce Japanese Holster spare mag is included as well. These small Japanese holsters are extremely scarce; if sold separately it would fly out the door for well over $600. This example is particularly nice.
The FN 1910 was probably the most commonly used pistol by Japanese Army Officers in WWII. Senior Japanese Army Officers, Captain and above would usually carry a sword and a small, automatic pistol such as this FN Model 1910. The Nambu Pistols Would have been carried by those officers involved in active combat roles.
You can get a letter from Anthony Vanderlinden that will verify that this pistol was shipped by FN’s Agent Shroeder to the Japanese. This is a top example of a Japanese attributed FN Model 1910 rig and the price is extremely reasonable at that!
Scotty’s Collectors Insight, It would surprise a lot of folks if they knew that the FN Model 1910 pistol was the most commonly carried handgun of Japanese Army Officers during the WWII era. The Nambu pistols went to front line units mostly to enlisted and non commissioned soldiers who were in combat such as machine gun crews. The higher the rank the smaller the pistol.
