IN 97% ORIGINAL UNMESSED WITH CONDITION, WE HAVE A VERY RARE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER BRITISH 1940 CLANDESTINE PURCHASE BALLESTER MOLINA PISTOL IN .45 AUTO. THESE PISTOLS WERE PURCHASED FROM THE ARGENTINE FIRM IN 1940. THEY ARE KNOWN TO HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO THE 8TH ARMY IN NORTH AFRICA AND WERE HEAVILY USED BY SOE AGENTS OPERATING IN OCCUPIED FRANCE AND ALSO BY THE FRENCH RESISTANCE. THIS PARTICULAR EXAMPLE WAS PROBABLY ISSUED DURING THE WAR AS IT HAS SOME SLIGHT WEAR FROM USE. THEY WERE SOLD COMMERCIALLY OVER HERE IN THE 1960’S. THEY ARE IDENTIFIED BY THE SPECIAL B PREFIX SERIAL NUMBER.  THIS PISTOL BEARS LONDON PROOF MARKS WHICH ALSO INDICATES ACTUAL USE IN WARTIME.  THERE IS A LEGEND THAT HAS SOME CREDENCE THAT THESE PISTOLS WERE MADE FROM THE STEEL OF THE SCUTTLED GERMAN BATTLESHIP GRAF SPEE. THESE PISTOLS ARE QUITE RARE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER.
