THIS WAS A CONSIGNMENT BUT WE JUST TOOK IN ON TRADE…….In excellent all matching condition with a mint bore, we have a top example of a rare and highly sought after FN49 rifle in 30-06 caliber as Issued to the Army of the small country of Luxembourg. Tiny little Luxembourg spared no expense to man it’s 28 man army; they each got one of these very fine rifles and their own tank…no expense was spared. You can see the “AL” crest on the top of the receiver. The FN49 is certainly the finest of the WW2 era semi auto rifles, and the fit and finish is impeccable. Although they were not put into production until 1947, the design had been pretty much been finalized in 1939 however the outbreak of war prevented production. When it finally hit the market place it was well received in spite of a glut of surplus ww2 weapons that were available at that time. Orders continued for this rifle as late as 1961.
Very few Luxembourg rifles were ordered and they are highly sought after due to the pristine condition and the very popular 30-06 caliber. If you are looking for one this is about as nice of a specimen as you will locate. This is a really beautiful piece.
