In antique Excellent condition, all matching and tight as a tick, we have a very scarce (35,000 made) 1882 dated French Model 1874 Officer’s Service Revolver. These revolvers are serial numbered in the “N” prefix and are totally different from the much more commonly encountered M1873 variety. Among the differences are the fluted cylinder, a slight lighter weight, and a very high quality blue finish. Very much an upgrade suitable for the very socially stratified French Military system. These revolvers are extremely scarce, they made 10 times the number of the M1873 enlisted model. The service life of these revolvers was very long, almost eternal; they were a main sidearm of WW1 and were heavily used right on through WW2 most notably by the French Resistance. This is an extremely attractive and well made firearm that is avidly sought after by collectors.
