In 99%+++ original un-messed with condition, we have an absolutely exquisite and stunning new condition example of a US Army Colt 1924 Transition Model Pistol, the very first of what would be known as the Model 1911a1 Pistol. Â Initially called the “improved model 1911“, the nomenclature was changed to Model 1911a1 in May of 1926. Today, collectors refer to this pistol as the 1924 Transition Model. Â There were 10,000 of these pistols produced and this one was made in the middle of the run. Â This pistol is factory original and totally correct as per Clawson and it does have the HP stepped “k” marked barrel and the bore is mint. Â It was shipped from Colts to Springfield Armory on July 25, 1924. Â Let me say this categorically, this is the most stunning Pre-WW2 martial Colt Pistol that we have seen in 30 years, the blueing is almost translucent. Â Most of them were lost during WW2 or rebuilt after the war so this is a real find. Â Colt made 400,000 pistols during the second World War and only 10,000 of this model 1924 Transition were ever made, so this is an incredibly tough gun to locate, especially this crisp. Â The finest Colt we have ever carried.
