In 95% original condition, we have a fine example of a Japanese Type 26 Service Revolver. Unlike most of the examples we encounter, this one is still in the original finish and is all matching. The Meiji 26 Revolver, (1892) had an extremely long service life; it was the standard side of of the Russo Japanese War and was still carried during WW2 right up to the end of hostilities. By anybodies standards it was a well obsolete design even before WW1 but was still carried into combat even though it was not particularly effective due to the low powered 9mm Japanese Revolver round except at very close range. Today it is a must have for the serious collector of Pacific war small arms.
