Description

In excellent mint sharp original condition, we have an October, 1943 Springfield Armory Production M1 Garand Service rifle.  This is a great example of the famous US combat rifle that was carried throughout the war.  The bore is excellent and the throat gauges out at a 1 which indicated the rifle was not shot that much.  The stock clearly shows the GAW inspection acceptance cartouche of George A Woody who was in charge of the Springfield Armory at the time the rifle was manufactured.  The rifle a 1944 dated canvas sling as well.    General Patton called the M1 Garand the greatest combat implement ever devised and that is high praise indeed.  I was speaking to an old vet the other day and he said that they loved to carry a carbine but when it was time to start shooting they loved the Garand because in his words “it really put them (the enemy) down.”  If you are looking for a top example of the original as issued WW2 service rifle here you go…….
