IN 97% ORIGINAL VERY SHARP CONDITION, WE HAVE A REALLY NICE EXAMPLE OF A VERY EARLY PRODUCTION WW1 ISSUED S&W M1917 SERVICE REVOLVER IN 45 ACP. THIS EXAMPLE IS SERIAL NUMBER 1859 AND YOU WILL NOT THE VERY EARLY MILLED HAMMER.   THE GUN IS ALL MATCHING WITH A NICE BORE AND HAS VERY ATTRACTIVE MATCHING GRIPS. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THESE WERE BETTER HANDLING THAN THE COLTS. THIS IS LIKE HAVING AN ALMOST NEW 102 YEAR OLD GUN! WE SEE MANY MORE COLTS THAN THE SMITHS SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE THIS IS A TOP EXAMPLE.
THE M1917 REVOLVERS WERE HEAVILY USED IN ACTIVE SERVICE IN WWI AND RIGHT THROUGH TO THE END OF WW2. DURING WW2, THEY WERE OFTEN ISSUED TO MP’S AND THE ARTILLERY TO SPARE THE M1911’S FOR FRONT LINE COMBAT USE WITH THE INFANTRY AND ARMOR.  THIS IS A LATER PRODUCTION ALL MATCHING REVOLVER WITH LITTLE MORE THAN SLIGHT CARRY WEAR.
