Description

This was a walk-in from last week.  We have an early 1942 production Smith & Wesson .38/200 Revolver.  This was issued through Lend Lease to the Australian Army and is so marked.  It was exported to out of Australia in the late 1950’s for sale in America.  This revolver and the later .38 S&W victory model that was shipped in large numbers were the standard issued side arm of the Australian Army in WW2.  This was a superior pistol the the No.2 Enfield Revolver and was very well liked by end users in the field.  The only complaint was that the cartridge was of low power, but you had a far better chance of actually hitting your target with this revolve than the Enfield.  These revolvers were used by all of the Commonwealth countries in WW2.
