In mint condition we have an British/Canadian WW1/WW2 issued B.S.A Co. made 1918 dated No1 Mk111∗ Lee Enfield Service Rifle. This rifle is all matching and has a mint bore. The stock is well marked and matching and it is a fine looking example of the legendary Service Rifle we all know and love. NOT IMPORT MARKED.
A very poignant thing abut this rifle is that it is Canadian broad arrow C marked, as you may know, in 1918 the Canadians and ANZACs bore the brunt of the fighting as most of the limeys had been killed off. It was the Brave Commonwealth troops and to a lesser extent the Americans that finished off the Germans in 1918. This is also very typical of the type of rifle that would have been used during the early stages of WW2 in France by the British Expeditionary forces as the No. 4 rifle was not available in large numbers at the time, it is exactly what was in service in the B.E.F. during the evacuation of Dunkirk, or in North Africa. Really clean all matching Lee Enfield No1 MkIII rifles such as this top condition gem are very tough to find; this is a great example of the legendary Commonwealth service rifle that served in both wars.
