In 90% antique fine condition, we have an exceedingly rare and historically important US Martial pistol, a Colt Model 1900 Second Army Contract Trials Pistol. This is one of 200 that were ordered and only a handful have survived and even fewer in this original state. The pistol was shipped to Springfield Armory on January 24, 1901. This pistol was based upon improvements suggested by Lt. Fuller, the Ordnance officer of the 20th Infantry in the Philippines during the Insurrection. This pistol was a successful design that was part of a linear line of improved pistols that led to the ultimate development and adoption of the Colt model of 1911, which was the perfected final pistol. These 200 trials pistols were sent immediately to the Philippines for Army officer use in combat where they were highly sought after due to the effectiveness of the round. As you might well imagine so very few of these pistols are still in existence and the few that are available are being held in public and private collections that rarely come up for sale. This is a very rare chance to own this very important piece of Colt history and Army history as these were not just experimental guns they were tested and proven in the field of battle. Now with Colt Factory Letter.
