Description

In 96% original condition, we have a fine example of a very scarce Final Production, (in the final 500 made) Springfield Armory M1911 Service Pistol.  These pistols were made at the Armory under license from Colt sporadically from 1914-1916.  This is the rarest variant, from the final production run of late 1916 early 1917 which was only 1,564 pistols.  This example was made in very early 1917 is 547 pistols from the highest known serial number, making it a must have variation. This is a 100% factory original completely orthodox textbook example, to include the incredibly rare and never ever seen Springfield Armory made Loopless Magazine, only used on these late production pistols.  All small parts are correctly marked with the “s  as they are supposed to be.  This pistol was produced in the final months of 1916 probably in the fall of that year.  The bore is excellent.  Springfield Armory made exactly 25,767 pistols and fewer than 2,000 of this late variant were produced.  This is an extremely rare and highly sought after example of the US Army service pistol as made at the Armory.
