In 95% very sharp condition, we have an extremely rare, relentlessly sought after US. Property Marked, Colt model 1903 Pocket Hammerless .32 auto. This example is the most desirable variant of that pistol, one of the early blued finish, WB cartouched (Waldemar Broberg) very early 1942 production pistols. According to the Colt Letter, this pistol was shipped just about a month after Pear Harbor, on January 25, 1942 to the Springfield Armory.
While many of these early pistols ended up with the SOE in England, but this one did not (no British Proofs) and was likely issued to G-2 Military intelligence or possibly even the OSS. What we know for certain is that a very early production pistol like this almost certainly went out of Springfield Armory as soon as it arrived and certainly saw clandestine use during the war. I can think of no pistol more fiendishly chased after and collected than these WWII Pocket Colts.
