In 95% very nice condition, we have a very highly desirable and rarely seen legendary manstopper, a Webley & Scott R.I.C. Model 83 5 shot Police Revolver in the full bore .455 Webley caliber. The Model 83 was the final modern version of the Royal Irish Constabulary model in the full .455 loading. The bore is excellent and the pistol is all matching. They were the longest cataloged Webley Revolver and they were in production from 1883 until around 1930. This example is very late production.
This is a very desirable British revolver, perfect for dealing with the Hound of the Baskervilles, Jack the Ripper, Werewolves, re-animated mummies, etc. etc. Exactly what a detective from Scotland yard was apt to carry and many a British gentleman likely had one stuff in his coat pocket while traveling the Empire. While you sometimes see the more rickety earlier models the model 83’s are not often seen. This is a must have for any Anglophiles den.
