Description

This is certainly one of the most visually stunning and highly sought after Walther PPK’s of the pre-1945 era!  In 98% mint conditon we have an EXTREMELY RARE 1944 production lightweight Dural Framed Walther PPK pistol. It is all matching with factory original bright nickel/chrome finish. Most people would look at this pistol and assume it was refinished by a GI, but there were about 200 chrome finished PPKs produced in 1944. Around serial 417xxx, there is a solid block of chromed guns (see Legacy Collectibles YouTube video). These pistols have unique features such as the duraluminum frame, blued rear sight and chrome magazine (this particular pistol came back with the Walther Banner only blued mag) with black finger extension.  Of the 200 guns produced, only about 25 are known to still exist. They were all made in 1944 for some special reason or presentation (High Nazi officials), but that information is lost to history. This particular pistol is in fantastic condition, with a few minor surface scuffs and scratches, and some minor muzzle wear. Excellent bore and grip.  The bright nickel / chrome like finish, and the black grips produce a visually stunning pistol, it almost looks as if it came off the set of a 1960’s James Bond Movie.  It is interesting to note that even at this late date in the war, luxury handguns were still being produced, perhaps the reality of the dire wartime situation did not sink in.
