In the year of 1916, Colt produced only 4,214 Model of 1911 US Army Pistols for the US Government, it was the lowest year of production and they are seldom seen in any condition and never this 98% crispy!    Almost all of these pistols when completed were sent to the Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory as was this one on November 15, 1916. This is a  sharp looking pistol, and is100% factory original.  Of note is the very rare barrel is it H & P proofed on the back of the hood and the lug which is peculiar to just a few pistols this year.    Absolutely one of the hardest Colt 1911 pistols to get and rarely seen this nice.
