In 97% mint crisp condition, all matching including the factory original magazine, we have a fine example of a 17.9 date (Sept, 1942) Nagoya Arsenal 1st series Type 14 Nambu Pistol. Everything matches on this pistol, as it should; its a textbook example of an early war production Type 14. This is the large trigger guard variant. The Type 14 was the iconic Japanese handgun of the WW2 era and it was used by front line infantry officers in a combat role as well as enlisted personnel such as machine gunners. They are well made, know to be highly accurate and are extremely reliable. The only complaint is that extracting the magazine is a bit of a chore, especially during combat with sweaty nervous hands. During the war, this pistol was a highly sought after war trophy and was often referred to as the “Japanese Luger” by the unfamiliar eyes of the American GI’s who first encountered it.
