Description

In 96+% factory original condition, we have a Scarce and Extremely Desirable 1941 Production Robert Sears (RS) Inspected  Colt Model 1911a1 U.S. Army Service Pistol.  This pistol was shipped to Springfield Armory from Colts on May 28, 1941, just barely six months before the attack on Pearly Harbor. Only about 1/3rd of 1941 production was  brush blue finished and they were the last of the blued 1911a1 military pistols, as the finish was changed to the more durable but ugly parkerization.  This pistol is in fact one of the last blued pistols before the finish was changed.

This pistol is totally factory correct original, the slide is matching numbered to the frame and it has the correct small “G” marked barrel, with an mint bore.  The grips which are the early hollow back Coltrock are in great shape.  As you are aware, this is not an easy gun to locate, especially in this condition.  The Prewar Blued Colt Service Pistols  made from 1937-1941 are at the absolute Apex of 20th Century Military firearm collecting, This is an extremely attractive textbook example and you could not have a better investment or example of Colts industrial artistry just prior to the outbreak of war.
