In 98% mint crisp condition, we have an extremely rare US Army Issued & Flaming Bomb Proofed Colt Official Police .38 Special Revolver. According to the Colt Factory Letter, it was shipped to Springfield Armory on December 17, 1942. The Pistol is all matching with a mint bore and the lockup is like new.
These very scarce Military proofed commercial revolvers are not to be confused with the rough wartime made Colt Commandos, these are much rarer and much more highly collectible. These early Military proofed Official Police Revolvers we sent to G-2 Military Intelligence, The OSS and also some to the FBI. Very few were available at the onset of WWII and the Government snagged them all. That this one is Military Flaming Bomb Marked and shipped to Springfield Armory indicates it was no plant guard gun, it was carried in harms way.
