In 96% VERY CRISP WONDERFUL condition, all matching and with an excellent bore and still in the original .455 Webley caliber, we have an extremely rare 1915 commercial/military production Webley and Scott Mark VI Service Revolver. The Webley Mark VI .455 Service Revolver was adopted for Army Service in late 1914 and production began in early 1915. This was the officially adopted version of the Webley Revolver for WWI.
What makes this example so rare is that it is a very early 1915 production commercially marked example that would have been made available for private officer purchase. During this early period, British officers were still expected to purchase their own sidearms, and as such this pistol was manufactured by Webley for that purpose. Very few examples were made available for this purpose as nearly all of the Webley Revolver production was sent straight to the British Military. This revolver is not import or export marked. It is also possible that this pistol was made in very late 1914 before the model was accepted for Army Service; either way it is an extremely rare Webley.
These revolvers are very hard to find still in the original .455 Webley caliber as most had the cylinders shaved down for 45 acp when they were brought into this country which kills the value. This is the most Iconic handgun the British ever made and it’s held in great awe and affection by all! This is all you could want in a WWI Webley.
