Description

In very sharp and attractive combat carried in 2 world wars condition, we have an Impossible to find, matching 1917 BSA Co. Made, Enfield  No1 MkIII∗ Short Model Lee Enfield Rifle.  This is a nice rifle, probably been through one or two reworks and is matching and has an excellent bore. Most importantly it is not import marked and is equipped with a nice 1907 Sanderson made bayonet that is really in top condition like you rarely see them.

The SMLE is certainly Legendary;  it was the most highly regarded and effective service rifle of the Great War with a butter smooth action, 10 shot magazine and short handy length.  This was the Rifle that ruled the trenches when close enough for a firefight; the Mauser Gew98 could not pour on fire as quickly and only had half the magazine capacity.   It was still in frontline in service during WWII and it is considered to be the classic British Battle Rifle of the early war era at places such as Dunkirk and the deserts of North Africa and even Burma.  Finding an example of this rifle these days in any decent condition is a pretty big deal, they are all in collections or long lost and are rarely ever seen.
