Description

In 96%  very sharp condition, we have an very top example of a 1924 dated French Model 1892 “Lebel” Service Revolver This revolver is from the final year of production of this model, 1924.  This was the standard French Officer’s Service side arm from 1892 through 1939 , when it began being replaced with the new Mle 1935A automatic pistol.  This upgrade was just getting underway when War broke out so most of the French Units in 1940 were still equipped with the Mle 1892 Revolver or Ruby type pistols.  This revolver stayed in Service well into the 1960’s with the French National Police.

The Pistol was heavily used during the WW2 era by the French Military, the Resistance, and it was also reissued by the Germans who captured vast quantities in 1940. One could think of no better pistol to represent the French Resistance movement during the time of the Nazi Occupation of France.  This is a wonderful example of a French Service pistol at the outbreak of hostilities in 1940.  If you wish to shoot this revolver, Fiocchi just manufactured a run of 8mm Lebel ammunition and it is available, we got ours from SG Ammo.  This is perhaps the best of the turn of the century .32 caliber  military revolvers and they are fine shooters.
