Description

In excellent mint crisp condition, we have a wonderful example of an early 1944 production Japanese Army Officers Shin Gunto Sword of the 1944 Pattern with the very rare double button blade release.  This blade is signed on both sides and is a prime example of a Showa era Gunto oil tempered blade with a straight temper line.  The swordsmith is Kanefusa, and the blade is dated 1944.    The mounts and the handle wrapping are all in top condition.  The blade is extremely sharp with no nicks and we guarantee it to be good for three be-headings without the need for sharpening.

No other war trophy of the Pacific Theater captured the imagination more than a Japanese “Samurai Sword” as it conjured up images of Crazed Japanese officers leading the Banzai Charge, waiving their swords over their heads as they plunged towards our lines and certaqin death.  They are truly iconic relics of WWII.
