In 95% very nice condition, we have an Extremely Interesting 1915 dated Imperial Russian M1895 Nagant Service Revolver that comes with the very rare WWII Vet War Trophy Papers for Allied War Trophies, In this instance Captured Soviet Property. This revolver is a very special ALL MATCHING example with a mint bore that really speaks to you! It was originally used in WWI, was certainly used in the Russian Civil War and after that had an early 1930’s Soviet Rework where the front sight was upgraded. We can tell this from the “P” added to the serial number indicating a 1930’s arsenal overhaul. What I really like about this pistol was that it was used, and used a lot as you can tell from the recoil shield which we pictured, but it has been meticulously well cared for and maintained by whatever soldier carried it.
How this was used in WWII is open to speculation. Many of these revolvers were captured and re-issued by the Germans and it could have ended up in the Hands of a GI as a war trophy captured from the Germans. This is the most likely explanation. It is possible however that is was obtained directly from a Soviet soldier as there was some fraternization between the Red Army and our boys in 1945 along the Oder River. Many a Hershey Bar or pack of Lucky’s were swapped for various sundry items of exotic Soviet equipage. Perhaps it was acquired through some act of soldierly enterprise. Certainly one of the most interesting Nagant Revolvers we have offered.
