In 96% very sharp condition we have an extremely rare and extremely desirable 3rd variation Walther Zero Series P.38 Pistol still with both (2) the factory original matching numbered magazines and the 1940 dated holster. The bore is mint and the de-cocker works correctly, which is a weakness in these early production P.38’s with the horseshoe sear. This is a completely orthodox textbook example with both grips waffenamted and numbered to the pistol, The bore is excellent as well.
The Zero series were the initial German Army trial pistols of the P.38 design, they were built to the highest Walther commercial production standards with the legendary translucent like deep blue finish. The function and the fit are flawless; racking back the slide it feels like it was made of glass the motion is so smooth. The design was an immediate success and a vast improvement over the P.08 Luger from both the manufacturing standpoint and certainly the actual reliability in use. The desirability of this pistol cannot be understated it is on the must have list of any serious P.38 collector.
