THIS IS A VERY UNUSUAL GERMAN RETAILER MARKED BROOMHANDLE.  IN 97%+  ORIGINAL VERY SHARP CONDITION, ALL MATCHING TO INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBERED  STOCK, WE HAVE A MAUSER M1896/16 RED 9 BROOMHANDLE PISTOL IN 9MM LUGER. WHAT MAKES THIS SUCH AN INTERESTING AND UNUSUAL PISTOL IS THAT IT IS RETAILER MARKED “L DIETER MUNCHEN 7” WHICH WAS A LARGE AND WELL KNOWN GUN MAKING CONCERN IN MUNICH AT THE TIME.  ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RECEIVER IS ENGRAVED THE INITIALS “KWM”.   THIS MAY HAVE BEEN AN OFFICER PRIVATE PURCHASE BUT MORE THAN LIKELY IT WAS PURCHASED AS A SECURITY FIREARM FOR  A MUNICH GOVERNMENT  ENTITY OR PERHAPS A FACTORY.  THE TIME WOULD HAVE BEEN MOST LIKELY 1918-1919.   THIS IS THE FAMOUS RED NINE BROOMHANDLE,USED BY MACHINE GUN CREWS TO PROTECT THE GUNS AT CLOSE QUARTERS AND BY STORM TROOPS IN THERE FAST BRUTAL ATTACKS.  IN THE DAYS BEFORE VIABLE SUBMACHINE GUNS THIS WAS THE CLOSE QUARTER WEAPON OF CHOICE.  THIS IS MUCH NICER THAN YOU USUALLY SEE THESE AND THE STOCK IS ONE OF THE BEST WE HAVE COME ACROSS.
