IN 98% MINT CRISP ORIGINAL CONDITION, WE HAVE A TOP EXAMPLE OF A VERY LATE 1945 END OF WARTIME PRODUCTION ITHACA 1911A1 PISTOL.  THIS PISTOL IS 100% CORRECT AS IT LEFT THE FACTORY AS PER CLAWSON.  THIS PISTOL WAS ONE OF 928 SHIPPED TO THE ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL ON SEPT 7, 1945.  THIS WAS THE FINAL DAY OF SHIPMENTS FROM ITHACA.    IT BEARS THE DISTINCTIVE ITHACA INSPECTION MARK OF WILLIAM BEAN  ON THE FRONT LEFT TRIGGER GUARD WEB AND IS 100% FACTORY ORIGINAL.  THERE HAS BEEN MUCH INTEREST OF LATE IN THE ITHACA MADE 1911A1 PISTOLS.  COLLECTORS HAVE BECOME AWARE THAT THEY DID NOT MAKE NEARLY AS MANY AS REM RAND DID.  WHILE NOT NEARLY AS SCARCE AS A UNION SWITCH THEY ARE NOT PARTICULARLY COMMON.  THIS IS A TOP CONDITION 100% ORIGINAL WW2 VINTAGE ITHACA THAT WAS DELIVERED A MONTH AFTER THE GUNS FELL SILENT.
