Description

This pistol is very tastefully engraved as it was a presentation to an FBI Agent in the Detroit Office in 1954.  We have a 98% as new in the matching box 1953 production Smith & Wesson .38 Military and Police Airweight 2 inch round butt.  This is called the “Pre Model 12“.  This is a very rare early production pistol still with the original matching numbered aluminum cylinder.  These pistols were all recalled and had the cylinders replaced with steel ones due to the catastrophic failure of the original aluminum cylinders if even high velocity ammunition was used in them.   To find an un-modified one is a real challenge to collectors.  This is the commercial version of the Air Force Air-crewman revolver.  Having a Detroit FBI association really adds to the nostalgia of this fine piece.
