$3,650.00
Out of stock
IN 95% ORIGINAL CONDITION,WE HAVE A COLT 1911 THAT WAS PRODUCED IN THE SPRINGFIELD ARMORY SUSPENDED SERIAL NUMBER RANGE. THESE PISTOLS ARE THOUGHT BY MOST TO HAVE BEEN MADE AT COLT’S AROUND THE MIDDLE OF 1916, IN A RUN OF AT LEAST 1000 GUNS. THERE ARE SOME COLLECTORS WHO BELEIVE THAT THEY MAY HAVE BEEN ACTUALLY ASSEMBLED AT SPRINGFIELD ARMORY AT THIS TIME BUT THE EXACT ORIGIN HAS BEEN SO FAR LOST TO TIME. THEY ARE COVERED IN GREAT DETAIL ON PAGE 110 OF CLAWSON. THEY ARE NEWLY ASSEMBLED PISTOLS AND ARE NOT REWORKS. WHILE THE ORIGIN MAY NOT BE CLEAR, THEY ARE WW1 ERA US GOVERMENT ISSUED PISTOLS THAT CERTAINLY SAW COMBAT IN THE GREAT WAR. THIS IS A TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE MADE TOTALLY OF COLT PARTS WITH THE “H” MARKING IN THE APPROPRIATE SPOTS AND ALSO THE “G” MARK (GOVERMENT PRODUCTION ORDER) AT THE 6 O’CLOCK POSITION FROM THE DISCONECTOR HOLE, A CLEAR INDICATION OF COLT PRODUCTION. THESE ARE VERY RARE AND UNSUAL PISTOLS AND EVERY SERIOUS 1911 COLLECTOR WILL OR SHOULD HAVE ONE IN HIS COLLECTION.
