TUE JUL 9, VERY SCARCE & EXCEPTIONAL, FINNISH 1940 1st SERIES PISTOOLI L-35 LAHTI PISTOL, PRODUCTION, WINTER WAR USED, VERY CRISP!

In 97% VERY CRISP condition AND NOT IMPORT MARKED, we have a fine example of a very rarely seen 1940 Production Finnish Military Pistooli L-35 commonly called the Lahti Pistol after its native designer Aimo Lahti. This is a first variation and would have been manufactured in early 1940.  It was delivered to the army in Feb of 1940.  Wartime produced pistols are very rare, and usually in deplorable condition that was caused by long years of rugged combat use. This mint crisp example was very likely was issued to a high ranking officer who did not see much frontline combat.  We cannot overstate how exceptionally rare it is to find an early production Lahti in such pristine factory original condition.  

This Pistol has gained a legendary and very out-sized status from the Winter War and the Continuation War.  It may surprise you to know that only around 5,000 of these pistols were in service during this time and few survived the war.

The L-35 Lahti is one of the most Legendary Pistols of the 20th Century, conjuring up romantic views of a Finnish soldier just flawlessly popping off Russian invaders with this pistol in the middle of an Artic Snowstorm; certainly, one of the most iconic pistols of the WWII era.

Scotty’s Collector Insight…Finnish Lahti Pistols are scarcer than hen’s teeth and while you do see the post made examples from time to time the war time production pieces are highly elusive.  We have only had a few and this is the finest example we have ever carried.
