Description

IN 80% ORIGINAL ALL MATCHING CONDITION WE HAVE A VERY RARE AND SELDOM SEEN COLT MODEL 1909 USMC REVOLVER.  IT WAS  SHIPPED TO THE USMC DEPOT IN PHILADELPHIA FROM COLTS IN 1909. THESE PISTOLS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE ARMY AND NAVY MODELS AS THEY HAVE A ROUNDER GRIP THAT IS CHECKERED SO THEY ARE ALMOST UNIQUE. THE BORE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

THE MARINE CORPS TOOK IN LESS THAN 1400 OF THESE REVOLVERS INTO SERVICE AND VERY FEW HAVE SURVIVED THE YEARS OF HARD AND ABUSE.  ALMOST ALL SURVIVING EXAMPLES ARE WELL WORN FROM MANY YEARS OF HARD USE.   THIS IS A TYPICAL EXAMPLE, ROUGH OUTSIDE BUT NICE BORE.  USMC ISSUED GUNS ARE THE MOST DESIRABLE TO COLLECTORS AND THIS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE HARDEST TO FIND PISTOLS. ANYONE WHO COLLECTS USMC SERVICE WEAPONS MUST HAVE AN EXAMPLE OF THIS REVOLVER IN THEIR COLLECTION.
