In at least 92% condition which is extremely high for a WW2 era Tokarev, we have a Very Early 1938 dated (4th year production) TT-33 Tula Tokarev Soviet Red Army Service Pistol. This pistol is all matching except for the magazine and the bore is excellent which is almost unheard of in these pistols. 1936 was the lowest production year for these pistols, they were not a high priority to produce in the PreWar Soviet Union that year and they are rarely seen, especially this nice. These pistols were of an updated Browning design and they were compact and extremely powerful with the 7.63mm bottleneck cartridge. They were highly regarded by both the Soviet Red Army and German Soldiers who used everyone that they could capture.
Of all the WW2 era Service Pistols of the major combatants, the Soviet Union’s TT-33 is the most elusive in North America for collectors to locate. The reasons are pretty straightforward, there was little contact during the war between the American Army and the Red Army. Most of the Soviet made equipment brought hack here was taken off of German soldiers who has previously taken it off of Russians that they had overrun. A few more came back in the Korean war and from Vietnam but they have never been common here. This 1936 dated example would have seen all of the Purges of Stalin and the brutal fighting on the Russian Front. If you are looking for a fine example of this famous pistol for your collection this would be a fine choice.
