In 97%+ mint sharp condition, we have a rare Nazi Police “Eagle/L” marked Mauser made byf 43 all blue variant P.38 Pistol. This is a scarce and seldom seen P.38, according to Jan Still, only 1,400 of this Police “Eagle L” marked variant were made so they are RARELY SEEN. How many could have survived??? This example is #887 in the middle of the 1943 production run. This is a textbook example in the known serial range. It is also listed by serial number on page 222 of Alex Krutzek’s P.38 book, which is the ultimate reference on these pistols. The fact that this pistol is confirmed in the definitive book adds to the value and desirability of this example.
There were ever only 6800 P.38’s that were police marked at all so just getting one of these Police issued P.38’s in mint condition is a challenge for the collector. How many survived? How many are in the states?.……..NOT MANY. This is a completely matching example with a mint bore. The serial number is right in the known range and the gun has the required commercial proofs as well. These Police P.38 Pistols have very unique markings and they are highly sought after by both P.38 and Nazi Police pistol collectors. There are probably less than 50 collectors in the entire world that are lucky enough to own one of this rare variation Nazi Police issued P.38’s.
