In 97% very sharp condition, we have a fine example of the classic Pre WWII Belgium Army issued FN Model 1935 High Power Pistol. This is the Type 1 Variant, with the tangent sight graduated for use with the shoulder stock. The Type 1 variant was issued by the Belgium Army to NCO’s and other ranks who needed to carry a pistol such as Machine gunners and Tank Crews. This example was manufactured in early 1939, just months before the outbreak of war in September, 1939. The pistol is 100% factory original and matching and the bore is excellent.
This Belgian Army issued pistol was likely carried into battle with some Belgium Army NCO in May of 1940 when the Nazis invaded Belgium and it was likely surrendered or captured and then re-issued to German forces who used it until it was captured once again and became the war Trophy of a G.I. who liberated it and brought it back to the states.
These pistols were mostly sent to and reissued by the Waffen SS and there are many photos of their use in the hands of the SS in Russia during the savage fighting. To the soldiers of the SS, the High Power was the most sought after and cherished of their military pistols due to the high capacity 13 round magazine and its flawless function and accuracy. They were invaluable in close quarters combat. If you have ever shot one of these exceptional pistols you know they run like a Swiss watch. Absolutely My favorite WWII Pistol, I have all the variants in my collection, you just cant own enough of them.
