In mint crisp 100% factory original condition we have a very rare August, 1941 production M1 Garand Service rifle. This rifle is British proofed and was one of the rifles returned to the US through Interarms in the 1970’s. This is for all practical purposes the only way to get a mint untouched early production Garand rifle. These rifles are well known to collectors and are highly sought after as the condition is almost new as they saw little or no use across the pond. This rifle is in the original pre-Pearl Harbor configuration with the flush nut rear sight and the early GHS cartouche. The Sight seal is even still intact on the front sight. You will also notice that the coating on the stainless steel gas tube has almost all flaked off, a sure sign of an un-messed with rifle. The coating that was used at this time period had not been perfected and flaked off quite rapidly. This issue was solved in early 1942 with an improved coating that did not come off. This is just a spectacular example of the type of Garand that our forces would have carried at the outbreak of the war were they fortunate enough to be issued one. If you are a serious collector of WW2 rifles and do not have an early production Garand, this is a must have rifle.
